Apple Week- a sneak peak!

In Interviews on July 19, 2010 at 10:30 pm

Here’s a quick question regarding things to come:

What is your favorite apple out of the following list? We want to know what people are inclined to eat and the general opinion regarding what’s hot and what’s not in the ever changing category of apples.

BIG NEWS.

Gentle Readers,

for years the Discovery Channel has been hypnotizing its viewers by offering the elustrious “Shark Week.”

I, too, have fallen victim to it’s razor sharp advertising and adventure. To feel and be as one with the sharks is arguably a common dream we all subconsciously share. To swim with the great whites, tigers, and hammer heads is what children dream of. More than winning Olympic Gold, an Academy Award, or become a doctor, people since the age of Neanderthals have fantasised about growing up with the sharks.

Gentle Readers,

The DailyAbuce is going to offer you something even more life-changing and adventurous than that of Shark Week. We’ve thought long and hard about this and have come to a resounding decision and go ahead with something that has inspired and fascinated us for quite some time:

Apple Week.

I have a few certain passions within my life and one of them happens to be finding the greatest apple to:

A) Straight up eat

B) Dipping in plain Yogurt (occasionally with cinnamon)

C) Smothering with Peanut Butter

Keeping these three categories in mind, the Daily is going to launch into an epic search regarding the King of Apples. This is going to be truly a daunting task and so we’ve lined up a number of guest judges to help aid in the painful process of judging.

Expect laughter, tears, breakdowns, new friendships, and the end of old ones. APPLE WEEK IS SURE TO BE LIFE CHANGING!

Thanksgiving revelations…

SO,……..

this may be the worst video of all time. And you probably won’t laugh- its not very funny- but if you’re looking for some mindless and nonproductive video surfing, this may just be the little vid for you. You might just learn a little something about your fellow skaters. Think of it as a branch of video dating, speed skater style.

Operation Interview: Dodo Bucsis

In Inspiration, Interviews on October 2, 2009 at 7:20 pm

Alright! So I’ve been hinting at some new blog ideas for a few days, and I’m giving you a little preview of what’s to come tonight! This is the Daily’s first interview, and I’ve had the privilege of interviewing someone really close to my heart, my Grandmother, Dorothy “Dodo” Bucsis. There will be (hopefully) more to come regarding the interviews… but I’d really appreciate some feedback of what kind of questions you’d like me to ask! So with little much else to say, here we are! I hope you all enjoy!

Name: Emma Dorothy “Dodo” Bucsis

DOB: March 14th 1922

Hometown: Rocky Mountain House

Fun fact: Favorite colour is blue, has 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and has made numerous cameos in Ricky and Anastasia’s videos. You’ll probably see her at the Oval, sporting flaming read hair and stylish clothes.

What is your favorite Quote:

(she laughs and puts up her arms as if to say, “what do you you mean by quote?!” She then takes a sip of her water and nibbles at her salad…) “This is really stupid. But I feel like, when I say my prayers, I always say “help me to help myself.” Is that stupid?!” My mom then interjects with her infectious laugh and says, “thats funny, because I always pray: “help me to help others…” she then goes on laughing and Dodo joins in. “We’re quite a bit a like” she says giggling and gasping, looking at my mom. “Add that in too, I like to help others as well.”

If you were stranded on a deserted island, name 5 celebrities you’d like to be with and why (and they have to be living):

“I don’t know if I know 5 celebrities. But let me see…”

1) Prince Harry (“he’s my favorite Prince and he’s very handsome. I just like him!”)

2) Prince William (“ditto for William.”)

3) The Queen (“She’s a very gracious lady, she’s a great person/leader for the Commonwealth!”)

4) Ralph Klein (“Because he’s funny. I like his humour.”)

5) Dolly Parton (“Oh I just love Dolly Parton because of her personality, her voice, and of course her singing!”)

Who is the most inspiring person you’ve ever met in your entire life?

“I would say Charlie Warren, my Godfather. As a young girl, he taught me a lot of things about history and about the Church. He was just a really nice inspiration for me.”

What’s the funniest thing thats ever happened to you?

“I don’t know” she says with a laugh and a shrug. “Probably the time when my daughters, sister and I went down to Montana and we stopped at a little roadside diner in Claresholm. The waitress walked up to us to take our order and she had two black eyes, and we all started to giggle. My one daughter said that “she’d have a coke,” which made us all laugh even more. We were laughing so hard, my other daughter Charlotte couldn’t even speak, so she held up two fingers- for two cokes. It was so funny, we couldn’t even speak we were laughing so much.”

If you could have dinner with any famous athlete, who would it be?

“Catriona Le May Doan. I mean, who else do I know? She’d be nice to have dinner with.”

What’s your favorite TV show?

“The Young and the Restless! That show makes my day. I look forward to it at night.”

Are you a big speed skating fan?

“Yes. Because of my granddaughter. I mean, I didn’t really have that much interest in it before, but now, its the number one! I enjoy watching it. I enjoy the people. Especially now that I know of them, and a lot of them.”

If you could give the world one piece of advice, what would it be?

She looks at me with teary eyes, and starts to giggle. “To be kind to to others,” as her eyes start to water, she starts to laugh and wipes her tears, “and thats worth crying over!”

THANKS DODO, YOU’RE THE BEST AND WE ALL LOVE YOU!!
